Former President Pranab Mukherjee had previously tested potive for the new novel coronavirus infection. He had also undergone a surgery from brain clot at Army hospital (R&R). His health was deteriorating and was pronounced dead on Monday, August 31.
Mukherjee (84) was reportedly in coma and had been suffering from severe lung infections. He was under the support of ventilators. His son, Abhijith Mukherjee tweeted at 5:46 pm on Monday, “With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri Pranab Mujkherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers, duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You.”
Earlier this morning the doctors from the hospital said, “He is in septic shock due to his lung infection and is being managed by a team of specialists. He continues to be in deep coma and on ventilator support.”
