POWER MINISTRY TO MAKE MAJOR CHANGES TO AIR CONDITIONERS

According to reports, the Power Ministry of India is considering setting 24 degrees as the standard temperature for air conditioners. The default temperature setting will be from 24 to 26 degrees. This change will reportedly promote energy efficiency.
Reportedly, the Power Minister RK Singh in a statement said that for every 1-degree increase in temperature, 6 per cent of the electricity consumed can be saved. Singh confidently stated that if the rule is adopted, 20 billion units of electricity can be saved within one year.
