Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi was handed a two-year prison sentence by a Patiala court after being convicted in a human trafficking case on Friday. The case was registered in 2003 following a complaint by one Bakshish Singh, a resident of Balbehra village, in Patiala district. Daler and his brother, Shamsher Singh, were accused of illegally sending people abroad by disguising them as members of his troupe. The duo also allegedly charged hefty "passage money". However, he got released on bail immediately.
