After years of religious conflict in the country regarding the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive on Wednesday to lay the foundation for the same.
The ‘bhoomi poojan’ which will mark the end of a 135 year old conflict in the country. The temple premises is flooded with security arrangements for the event and the borders from Lucknow have been sealed. The place has been decked up with lamps, freshly painted structures and so on. Several local artists have decorated the road that the Prime Minister will take to the temple, with urns.
“Over 300 police personnel, who are younger, fit and healthy as well as tested negative for Covid-19 infection, have already been handpicked for deployment in VVIP security,” said a senior police official on condition of anonymity. “Everyone will wear a mask, everyone will maintain social distancing and it’s going to be fine,” said Anuj Jha, the district magistrate and member of the temple trust.
Rapid testing kits are being used which will provide the result in 15 minutes. Everyone who is invited to the temple will have to undergo the test and can only enter upon testing negative. The Vedic rituals have started and around 175 pandits are present. The Bhoomi poojan will begin at 12:30 pm and the PM will lay silver bricks for the foundation. Before the ceremony PM Modi will also plant a sapling in the premises.
“Later, these silver bricks will be enchased and the money will be used for the construction of Ram Mandir,” said Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, successor designate to the trust chief.
