Religion and culture is something we Indians cherish. Our festivals are an opportunity to display our cultural learnings and vibrant traditions. However, some seem to take it in a different tone.
After the infamous Jallikattu controversy, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has landed themselves into controversy again. A tweet by PETA India on the occasion of Krishna Jayanti/Janmashtami, has not gone down well with people.
Celebrate the joyous occasion of #Janmashtami by using vegan ghee and other non-dairy products to keep cows happy too! https://t.co/UicIxiJ9RO pic.twitter.com/EuBm0fZhFa

"Celebrate the joyous occasion of Janmashtami by using vegan ghee and other non-dairy products to keep cows happy too," PETA India posted on Twitter. As the news started spreading, Twitterati lost their collection calm, and hit out at the organisation. Some even went on to call them anti-Hindu.
Trouble mounted for PETA India when enraged Twitter users started slamming the organisation using #BanPeta. Many even went on to block their page on Twitter. The hashtag started gaining traction and was trending since last evening.
Here are some of the reactions to PETA India's tweet
Krishna is the protector of Cow. His name is Govind, Gopal : meaning the one who loves & care for cow. Don't teach Hindus how to love cow. We will use Cow's milk & Cow's ghee only without harming them. Don't lecture us. Anti-Hindu organization. #Janmashtami2018 @KrishnaDharma

Are you kidding? You could not raise your voice when there was animal slaughter in Eid?

Now you want us to celebrate OUR festival as per YOUR guidelines?
Have. Some. Shame.
Lord Krishna had cow ghee, we're having cow ghee too. That'll keep cows happy, believe me..
After missing in action during #Muslim festival of animal slaughter and bloodshed Eid, #Peta is now it seems back with a bang asking #Hindu community to celebrate vegan Janmasthami and to stop use of milk. #UrbanNaxals #Hinduphobia #BanPeta

PETA keeps silent when millions of Cows and Goats are Butchered Mercilessly during Id.

But PETA targets peaceful Hindu festivals like Jallikattu & Janmastami.@PetaIndia is nothing but a Crusader Agency of the Vatican Church to Destroy Indian Traditions and Religions.#BanPeta https://t.co/urGlCdg0T0
Just blocked @petaindia and @peta for its hypocratic appeal on Janmastmi. I just learn peta is not an animal lover organisation but a group of propagandist, 80% of people in peta are non-vegetarian.#BlockPETA #BanPeta pic.twitter.com/r8sKyIrNN6
