Bruce Riedel, a director on the former US President Bill Clinton administration's National Security Council reportedly revealed that Pakistan planned a nuclear attack on India during the Kargil war in 1999. According to reports, then Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif had called Clinton asking for help, but he said that the US would only help if Pakistan withdrew its troops back to the LoC. Pakistan was preparing their nuclear arsenals for deployment, before being stopped by the then US President Bill Clinton.
