The Railway Board has reportedly issued a notification permitting online booking through ‘single window system’ for special trains, coaches and saloons on Full Tariff Rate (FTR). Reports say, so far those booking tickets on FTR were required to submit a written request to Chief Booking Officer to book such coaches or train. However, this new notification comes as a relief to passengers booking tickets in special trains and coaches for religious tours, excursions etc, as the entire transaction will become digital. Notably, a charge of 5% will be levied on the total fare during the transaction on IRCTC website.
