An unidentified gang of armed men entered a branch of Indian Overseas Bank in Odisha’s Rourkela and looted a whopping Rs 42 lakh on Tuesday. The miscreants reportedly barged into the branch, located in the first floor of a building in the busy Madhusudan Marg area at around 9.50 am.
Chief Manager of the branch Sanjay Kumar Jha reportedly said that they held the employees hostage and started thrashing them. They also allegedly held some customers hostage and made them kneel at a corner. Jha said that they forcibly took the keys and fled with about Rs 42 lakh within half an hour.
They also reportedly snatched a gold chain from a woman employee. Calling it a well-planned heist, Rourkela SP Dr Uma Shankar Dash said that the miscreants have taken away the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) of CCTV cameras.
