While the opposition parties including Congress, Left, DMK and Trinamool Congress observe November 8 as Black Day, ruling BJP is observing it as Anti-Black Money Day. PM Modi on Wednesday tweeted, “I bow to the people of India for steadfastly supporting the several measures taken by the Government to eradicate corruption and black money. #AntiBlackMoneyDay”. However, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, in his tweet, said, “Demonetisation is a tragedy. We stand with millions of honest Indians, whose lives & livelihoods were destroyed by PM’s thoughtless act.” PM Modi on November 8 in 2016 announced the scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in an alleged effort to curb black money.
