A paramedical student in New Delhi was raped in a moving bus and brutalised on Dec 16, 2016. She later died on Dec 29, 2012 due to the injuries.
Six men raped her, of which one was juvinile and tried as such. Another convict committed suicide in jail. Four other convicts are awaiting their death penalty.
One of the convicts applied for mercy plea and the Supreme Court has said that the plea will be reviewed on Dec 17. The convict has stated that the Delhi air itself is reducing life.
Reacting on the mercy plea, the victim's mother said, “Why only are the victims shown all the rules? They should be hanged on December 16 ... It's the fault of our legal system. The Supreme Court should have expedited the matter. I moved the court after waiting for a year. They (convicts) are mocking the SC and legal system" she said.
Remembering the brutal assault on her daughter, she said “The day they took out the intestines of the girl, did they remember human rights.”
She also said that Nirbhaya's funds are not used and now victims are being burned and it is a slap on the face of the system.
On the other hand, preperations are underway in Tihar and the authorities have sourced ropes from Buxar jail.
