Navy sacks sailor after undergoing sex change surgery

The Indian Navy reportedly sacked a sailor who was serving from 2010 because he underwent sex change operation. Sibi was formerly known as Manish Giri received a clause from the navy that her service was no longer required as she altered her gender when on leave. According to media reports, the Navy discharged Sibi from service stating that the sailor changed her gender which was not the same when recruited and inducted. Sabi said to the media that, when her superiors found out about the surgery they kept her locked in a male psychiatric ward at the INHS Kalyani, for six months.
