Schools and colleges in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have reportedly been instructed to remain closed on Wednesday as heavy rain lashed out on Tuesday night. Flight operations were also affected at Mumbai airport as a total of 56 flights were diverted as the main runway is not yet operational. A forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places with extremely heavy rainfall in Raigad district adjoining Mumbai is expected in the next 24 hours, according to IMD Mumbai.
