According to reports, a massive fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday inside Patel Chambers in Mumbai's Fort area and a part of the building collapsed due to the fire. Reportedly, two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the collapse. The level-3 fire escalated to level-4 and 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
The Chief Fire Officer said that the situation is under control, adding that 16 fire engines, 11 tankers and 150 fire officers had been deployed to put out the fire. He also reportedly said that the building was “completely vacant” and the cause of the fire is to be investigated.
In a similar incident last Friday, a fire broke out at the Income Tax office in South Mumbai's Scindia House. However, fire tenders rescued the people trapped inside the building.
