According to reports, some Mumbai colleges have announced plans to hold extra classes, after the five-day break for Ganeshotsav from August 25 to August 29, to "make up for lost time" and complete the syllabus. "We can't cut down the Ganpati holidays as they have been scheduled to the academic calendar... Our only choice is to conduct extra lectures", the college authorities said.
