In a not so pleasing video, reportedly the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers verbally assaulted a man and made him do sit-ups for criticising their party leader Raj Thackeray. The man has been identified as Sandeep Tiwari, who is a marketing executive.
As per Times Now News reports, Tiwari had commented on Thackeray in the society's WhatsApp group, meant to exchange views on the political developments in the country. When local MNS leaders got to know about Tiwari’s negative comment on a video posted on the WhatsApp group, they summoned him to MNS office at Ambernath and assaulted him.
Media reports further state that, they made him perform 25 sit-ups while holding his ears as punishment. The video of Tiwari begging for Thackeray’s forgiveness is currently going viral on social media. In the video, Tiwari is seen folding his hands and is heard saying: “By mistake, I have sent video and for the same, I am apologising Raj Thackeray.”
As soon as the video went viral, MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande defended the party leader's action, saying that everybody in a democracy has the right to express, comment and criticize.
