According to reports, the journalists belonging to Chennai boycotted Vadgam MLA and activist Jignesh Mevani’s press briefing after he allegedly asked the Republic TV reporter to leave the place saying it was his policy not to speak to Republic TV. However, the Chennai journalists stood in solidarity with the Republic TV reporter even as Jignesh walked out without taking any questions. Journalists took to Twitter to say that field reporters cannot be targeted for the sins of their masters. They also argued that politicians and activists cannot dictate what journalists should do.
