At least six people were injured after a bridge collapsed in Mumbai’s Andheri railway station on Tuesday morning following heavy rains, say reports. No casualty has been reported so far. However, two of the injured are said to be critical.
Traffic at the Gokhale bridge, which is used by thousands of commuters every day, has been stopped. It connects Andheri East and Andheri West railway stations. Trains on the route can resume only after the debris is removed.
Railways said train services have been suspended between Bandra and Goregaon due to the collapse and added that the services from Churchgate to Bandra and from Goregaon to Virar have resumed.
The National Disaster Relief Force reached the spot to carry out rescue operations. Many parts of the city were waterlogged following the incessant rains last night.
