A man from Mohali was arrested on Tuesday for reportedly trying to sell his newborn daughter. The Balongi Station House Officer, Inspector Naveen Pal Singh Lehal reportedly said, "The case was registered on the complaint of Dr Jai Deep who was present in the hospital when Jaspal Singh went there to sell his infant on Monday night. We also traced the mother of the infant who is under the observation of doctors in the hospital. Her mother is also with her."
Jaspal Singh already has two children. Since his financial situation allegedly did not allow him to accommodate another child, he attempted to sell her. His neighbours, however, stated that the infant's parents never fought and found it shocking that Jaspal tried selling his child.
The infant was admitted to a hospital and is currently under observation.
