Liquor baron Vijay Mallya’s defence reportedly told the UK court that jails in India are over-crowded with poor hygiene as an excuse to evade extradition. Mallya’s defence also sought to counter Indian government assurances on how he would be treated on being extradited to face the fraud and money laundering charges. Earlier, the Home Ministry had told that all the needed facilities are available at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai where Mallya will be held if extradited.
