In a bizarre incident in Bengaluru, a male horse Raja was married to a female horse Rani at the Cubbon Park here on Friday. Both the ‘bride’ and the ‘groom’ were decked in traditional jewellery accompanied by percussion and other musical instruments that follow traditional marriages. Pro-Kannada activist and Kannada Vatal party chairman Vatal Nagaraj performed the marriage ceremony.
Nagaraj ‘gave’ a dhoti and a shirt to Raja and Rani was ‘given’ a saree and a mangal sutra. Nagaraj is known to have conducted such ceremonies in the past. Last year, he had married off two sheeps in a similar fashion.
In case, you think this is a stunt to oppose Valentine’s Day, then you have got it all wrong. The activist says that he is all for love and adds that anti-Valentine’s Day supporters shouldn’t oppose the special day.
He also urged the state and central governments to give Rs 1 lakh to guys and Rs 50,000 to girls in a bid to encourage them to fall in love.
Sweets were distributed to the guests who attended the ‘special’ marriage ceremony.
Wonder what our PETA activists have to say about this rather unusual wedding?
