According to reports, the qazi from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district asked all madrasas to celebrate the Independence Day, but also ordered the place of worship to not sing the National Anthem. Reportedly, this is due to a Muslim institution claiming that some words in the national anthem reek of unfaithfulness towards Allah. Notably, this comes after the UP government issued a circular asking for videos of Independence Day celebrations in the state's Madrasas.
