Legislation against ‘triple Talaaq’ may be passed in Winter Session of Parliament

In a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court in August, the practise of ‘triple Talaaq‘ was banned in a move to protect Muslim women from being unfairly divorced by their husbands without having any say in it. The government plans to take it further by passing a legislation in the Winter Session of the Parliament, banning and making it punishable by law. A ministerial committee has been set up to draft the law.
