KATHUA RAPE: KERALA SHUTS DOWN, SEVERAL PROTESTERS IN CUSTODY

A section of social media users called for a shutdown in Kerala on Monday against the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua. Several protesters were reportedly taken into custody by the Kerala cops. The worst affected districts were Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram, Palakkad, and parts of Thiruvanathapuram.

It all began as a social media campaign on Sunday which led to a shutdown on Monday. Protesters, some shouting anti-RSS slogans reportedly blocked traffic and forced shops to shut. However, traffic resumed after the police chased away the protesters.
