The flight was commuting passengers as a part of the Vande Bharatam Mission. The flight was scheduled to land at the Karipur airport but heavy rainfall led to low visibility in the hilly regions of Kerala and made it very difficult for the pilots to find a perfect landing
“Aircraft-tracking system ‘Flightracker’ showed that the pilots had attempted to land the aircraft a second time and came back in a ‘figure 8’ track. Unfortunately, when the flight was landing, the visibility on the runway was around 2,000 metres, which is alarmingly low for an inbound aircraft in such topography,” Times Now reported.
“After landing on Runway 10, the aircraft skid further towards the tip of the runway and fell off the cliff into the valley, splitting into two parts. It was a miracle that the aircraft didn’t burst into flames,” the media report added.
