The Karnataka government on Thursday allowed IT employees to form a trade union. Karnataka’s Labour Commission reportedly certified the formation of the Karnataka State IT/ITES Employees Union (KITU) under the Trade Union Act, 1926, and Karnataka Trade Unions Regulations, 1958. Karnataka IT employees had been demanding the formation of a union to address issues like indiscriminate layoffs and long working hours and now KITU would help lakhs of IT employees by providing them with a platform for their grievances.
