While Rajinikanth starrer Kaala saw a brilliant release on Thursday in Tamil Nadu, it was spoiled in Karnataka due to heavy protests. Kaala was not released in most parts of Karnataka, much to the disappointment of the fans.
Movie buffs and diehard Superstar fans were left disheartened after theatres refused to screen Kaala. The decision was taken after intense protests by pro-Kannada activists in the state. Protestors reportedly requested fans to not watch Kaala, so as to honour their brethren fighting for Cauvery.
While the movie screening was delayed by a few hours in Mysore, some theatres in Ballari and Raichur went ahead with the screening. Fans were left in a sorry state despite the Karnataka High Court and Supreme Court giving the green light for release.
