A Jain monk in Surat was arrested on Saturday after a 19-year-old girl accused him of rape. Reportedly, a girl filed a complaint with the police and a medical examination confirmed the rape. According to the complainant, the 45-year-old Jain monk raped her on October 1 when he called her for performing some rituals. The girl had come to seek his blessings along with her parents and the monk convinced to take the girl away alone from her family and assaulted her.
