Trains have their own boons and banes. While it is quicker and cheaper than buses and gives us the scenic view of the beautiful landscapes, the late unclean toilets and delayed trains and the unavailable tickets are annoying.
The government is trying to handle the problems and improve the infrastructure. As an example, the railways is introducing 'Tejas Express' that will run between Delhi and Lucknow and Ahmedabad and Mumbai from October and November respectively.
This train will have reading lights, attendent call buttons, LCD screens, sliding door, automatic doors, modular bio-toilets, etc. But IRCTC is all set to add more features.
Business Today reports, 40% discount for senior citizens, two meals, and free coffee and tea wil also be provided. Since the train's USP is on-time operations, travellers will receive compensation of the train is late by over one hour.
“We are finalising plans to run the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express and one of the things that are under consideration is to give some compensation to passengers for train delays. The compensation can be in the form of some credit to their e-wallets or a concession for future travel etc" said a senior IRCTC official, reports Financial Express.
