The Indian Railways has announced that it will allow passengers to transfer their confirmed tickets to another person in case they are not travelling. A statement by the railways said, “Chief Reservation Supervisor of important stations are authorised by Railway Administration to permit the change of name of a passenger having a seat or berth reserved in his name.” The transfer request will be granted only once. Further, a written request is required 24 hours prior the scheduled departure. In case of students, marriage party and NCC cadets, these transfer requests in excess of 10% of the total strength of group shall not be granted.
