As the number of COVID-19 cases are on rise, India reported a sharp increase with 478 cases in the last 24 hours. This was the highest spike so far, which has taken the total number of people infected with COVID-19 to 2,547.
As per the latest data of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this record includes 162 people who have been cured/discharged and 62 deaths. Earlier in the week, the government had reported that 62 people have died in the country after being infected by the deadly coronavirus.
Amid the rise in death and fear, the World Bank approved $1 billion in emergency financing for India to tackle the outbreak. Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 positive cases globally has crossed 1 million mark, with over 50,000 dead.
