The central government on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that the Indian Air Force had reportedly lost as many as 25 aircraft and 12 helicopters since May 2014. Further, it added that the crashes claimed the lives of 55 people. Reportedly, this was due to technical defects in ageing aircraft and poor maintenance, and human error due to inadequate pilot training might have caused the crashes.
