Earlier this week, a mother of three returned to India, after she had watched her husband die on a video call. While the woman was stuck in Dubai due to the global pandemic, her husband was fighting cancer in Kerala.

Biju Mol (37) and her husband along with their three daughters were residing in Kerala. However, after Biju Mol’s husband was diagnosed with cancer, she had decided to leave for UAE in order to find a job and support her husband’s treatment. After taking a loan and trusting in an agent, she was deceived and made to work in a massage centre.

Unaccustomed to such work environments, she resigned and began searching for another job, while on tourist visa. However, she did not find another job and was forced to leave for India. Unfortunately, India had closed all international flights due to the coronavirus pandemic, which prolonged her stay in the UAE.

On March 23, while she was talking to her husband via a video call, her husband fell from a chair and collapsed to death. She was left with no option but to watch him. She watched the funeral over a video call as well. After the death, all three of her daughters were admitted to an orphanage. Unable to afford the fine that she owed to UAE for prolonging her stay beyond the visa agreement and unable to afford the flight expenses to reach Kerala, she was looking for help from the government.

After the Kerala government and some other people came together and helped her with money, she successfully reached Kerala on Wednesday and reunited with her daughters.
