The brutal murder from Shamshabad in Hyderabad has shocked the nation. After the chilling murder of Priyanka Reddy, a veterinary doctor, who was found dead with her body burnt on Thursday morning came to light the city police had come into action and were on a hunt to arrest the culprits.
During investigation, the police found out that three men, who were in their 20's and a 26-year-old man have been involved in the case.
They have been arrested in the gangrape and murder of the doctor who went missing on November 27 (Wednesday night). Shockingly, her burnt body was recovered the next day.
According to police, the accused have been identified as Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakesavulu and all of them are from a town called Narayanpet which is 160 km from Hyderabad. Among the four, two work as lorry drivers while the other two are cleaners.
Currently, all of them have been arrested. Further explaining details about the incident, VC Sajjanar, Commissioner, Cyberabad Police said that the four men offered help to Priyanka after her vehicle tyre was punctured at around 9:20 pm. Within one hour, they gang-raped and murdered her.
As per NDTV reports, based on the investigation, culprits Areef and Shiva had come to the toll plaza around 9:00 am on Wednesday with a truck full of bricks. They were waiting for two other friends, who were on their way. While they were waiting, they seen the doctor parking her bike near the toll plaza at 6:15 pm. Within minutes they decided to sexually assault her, after which they punctured the two-wheeler and waited for her to return.
When she returned around 9:00 pm, Areef and Shiva offered to help her; they took her bike for a few minutes and returned to say that no shops were open at that time. Priyanka, who was worried as it was getting late had called her sister and said she was feeling scared.
Minutes later, she was gang-raped her and smothered. The men had also switched off her mobile by 9:45 pm and by 10:20 pm, they had murdered her.
Shockingly, all this took place while the woman's body was kept in their vehicle and by 10:28 pm, they had left the place.
Police further added that Areef and Naveen took the two-wheeler and abandoned it at Kothur village. They also removed the number plate from the bike. As they left the place, they tried to buy petrol at few locations and at 2:30 am, they set the body on fire under a culvert at Chattanpally.
As they traveled the later part of the day, they came to the city and unloaded the bricks near Attapur and dispersed. "We were able to get hold of them based on technical clues,'' said VC Sajjanar, Commissioner, Cyberabad Police to media.
