In a horrifying incident, a man allegedly tried to kill his wife by beating her with a stick and buried her alive. The incident took place following a heated argument between them over a domestic issue. They are residents of Gotlapalem village of Nellore district.
As per media reports, the police have identified the victim as Ponnuru Subhashini (37) who was living with her third husband Budabukkala Swamulu (30).
"On 27th night, the couple consumed liquor and had a quarrel on some domestic issue. [The] furious husband had beaten [his] wife with a stick. Subhashini lost consciousness and fell down," Kodavaluru Police Station Sub-Inspector Pratap told ANI.
The police also added that the victim’s seven- year- old daughter told them that "Swamulu dug a pit nearby and buried Subhashini when she was still alive; on the intermittent night of 27 and 28. He threatened the girl and ran away."
The body was dug out and sent to Nellore government hospital after Kodavaluru circle inspector Srinivas Rao reached the spot.
Police is waiting for the post mortem to reveal more details about the victim’s death.
Police told the media that the accused has absconded, a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
