A motorcyclist fell into the Yamuna river after the Harley Davidson bike he was riding was hit from behind by a speeding red Toyota Etios Liva on the Delhi-Noida-Direct Flyway (DND) last night. The car’s front was severely damaged just as the bike’s rear end was. Reportedly, the car hit the black Harley Davidson Street Rod, a 750cc motorcycle, and dragged it for many metres at around 1 am.
Following the heavy strike, the motorist, identified as Ayushman Puri from Sarita Vihar in south Delhi, was thrown over the side of the road and fell into the river. Delhi Police, Fire Department, Boat Club and the DND staff rushed to the spot. Puri has still not been found even though the divers have been searching for him for long hours.
Police reportedly said that the car driver was speeding from Delhi towards Noida when the incident took place. Following the accident, he left the car behind and fled when the eyewitnesses tried to catch him.
