Gujarat Board's class 12 Sanskrit textbook got a basic fact from Ramayana extremely wrong. Instead of saying Raavan kidnapped Sita, it said Ram kidnapped Sita.
Page 106 of the book, "Introduction to Sanskrit Literature" has a paragraph that contained, "Here the poet has brought out a beautiful picture of the character of Rama with his original thought and thinking. There is a very heart-touching description of the message conveyed by Laxman to Ram when Sita was abducted by Rama."
The executive president of Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks Nithin Pethani reportedly said, "It is a translation error where Ravana is replaced with Rama. In the Gujarati textbook, there is no mistake."
