The Centre has reportedly advised television channels to authenticate reports before broadcasting content derived from individuals or social media platforms. The move has been made so that any false or doctored material sourced from social media does not pass off as news. Reports added that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has also planned to issue an advisory requiring channels to run scrolls that alert viewers about the source of their information.
