According to reports, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping from the top of a 10-storey shopping complex in Hyderabad’s Abids Centre on Tuesday as she failed to qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Jasleen Kaur Saluja of Barkatpura area in Kacheguda didn’t listen even as onlookers screamed at her not to jump.
The girl reached Mayuri Kushal Towers at around 10 am in her two-wheeler and straightaway walked upstairs to the terrace of the high rise building. Jasleen’s father Ranveer Singh, a businessman in the city, said that she was upset since the NEET results were announced.
The parents did not find fault with the girl for failing to qualify in the medical entrance exam. Jasleen told them that she was going to meet a friend. Police identified the girl with the help of the key of her vehicle which she left on the terrace. Police found her two-wheeler in the parking lot of the Towers which helped them in finding the girl’s parents and their address.
