BJP's East Delhi candidate and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir won against AAP's Atishi Marlena and Congress’s Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Gambhir accepted the hearty congratulations and replied his heartfelt thanks in a reply tweet. He tweeted, Thanks a lot Bhajji paa. Ur wishes mean a lot to me. He said "lagta hai picture abhi bhaki hai" in Hindi meaning the picture is still not over yet, lauding his performance for the IPL team.

Gautam Gambhir himself is a two-time IPL-winning captain with the Kolkata Knight Riders and is the second-most successful skipper in the league after MS Dhoni with 71 victories as compared to Dhoni’s 104. He retired from cricket in 2018.
