flyer arrested for molesting IndiGo cabin crew member

A drunk flyer was offloaded from a Mumbai-Bengaluru IndiGo flight, and was later arrested for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old female cabin crew member.

The man, identified as Raju Gangappa, has been accused of pressing the woman's back and making a lewd remark while entering the flight. The incident led to the flight being delayed by half an hour.

Gangappa, who was on an official visit to Mumbai, was flying back home when the incident took place. The incident occurred when the crew member was receiving flyers on board flight 6E-825. Immediately after the incident, the woman alerted the pilot and flight superintendent. In her complaint, the woman said, "the flyer pressed my back and when I retaliated, he abused me verbally. I informed my senior of the incident before the flyer was offloaded with his baggage."

The flight officials informed the flight incharge, who then called the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials and detained the man. Gangappa has been booked under IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), the officials said.

Following his arrest, he was produced in a Mumbai court on Wednesday, which remanded him in police custody for a day.
