According to reports on The Hindu, farmers in Uttar Pradesh got loan waivers ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 10,000, under a scheme where the BJP government promised to waive farmer loans up to Rs 1 lakh. A farmer reportedly received a waiver certificate for Rs 10.37. While few farmers have allegedly received waiver more than Rs 10,000, other farmers were ‘shocked and humiliated’ to see less than Rs 1 in their waiver certificate.
