A former Doordarshan anchor died on Saturday after a coconut tree fell on her when she was taking a morning walk on Thursday. The incident captured by a CCTV camera went viral. Passersby gathered at the spot and pulled the 58-year-old Kanchan Nath out from under the tree. The unconscious Nath was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The deceased’s husband reportedly blamed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for her death alleging that the authorities denied permission despite the demand to cut the tree since several months. He also reportedly vowed to sue to civic body to court.
