While the Citizenship Amendment Act (ACT) has been taking different types of protest from people around the nation, one man in Delhi claimed himself as the Assistant Commissioner of Police and threatened people. The video of him threatening the protestors surfaced on social media platforms on December 22.
In the 16 minutes long video, the man in Delhi Police uniform says, "We are here to protect the law and order. We are acting as per the instructions by the Home Ministry of India. If people throw stones at me, I will shoot all of them. If they throw bricks, I will collect it and build Ram Temple".
The video went viral on social media and the man was arrested by the police later. DCP Roy revealed the identity of the person in the video, "His name is Rakesh Thiyagi and he is 43-years-old. He served with the Delhi Police till 2014, took VRS later and is now a private citizen. We have booked two cases under IPC and IT sections for misusing police uniform and the social media for wrongful means".
Rakesh came out of the prison in bail and released another video in which he said he has a deep respect for police. Since he did not speak anything against the law in the second video, he was not arrested.
