DEATH SENTENCE FOR RAPE OF CHILDREN BELOW 12: GOVERNMENT

After the Centre told the Supreme Court that the process to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been initiated, the Union Cabinet has reportedly included death penalty as a punishment for raping children under 12.

This move comes at a time when there is a nationwide uproar over the brutal rape and murder of the Kathua girl and the alleged rape of minor in Unnano which were followed by many such incidences of late.
