While former President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday reportedly landed in Nagpur to attend a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh event, his daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee has cautioned him ahead of the meet. Stating that even RSS wouldn’t believe that he was going to endorse its views, Sharmistha wrote on Twitter, “But the speech will be forgotten, visuals will remain and those will be circulated with fake statements.”
Slamming reports about her switching to BJP in the upcoming 2019 general elections, the Congress leader wrote, “I joined politics because I believe in @INCIndia Wud rather leave politics than leave Congress.” In another tweet, she said the former President is giving RSS full handle to plant false stories and spread false rumours.
Earlier, Pranab Mukherjee’s decision to attend the event drew mixed responses from the Congress leaders. Party leader M Veerappa Moily said the attendance of former president at the event will create an ‘undesirable difference’ in the country.
Hope @CitiznMukherjee now realises from todays’ incident, how BJP dirty tricks dept operates. Even RSS wouldn’t believe that u r going 2 endorse its views in ur speech. But the speech will be forgotten, visuals will remain & those will be circulated with fake statements. 1/2
