In a surprising and daring move, a Bangalore- based techie bravely fought off highway robbers and forced them to flee in the capital city.
The victim sustained around 20 stab wounds. Reportedly, when the robbers attacked the man, his wife who was sitting next to him hit the accelerator which caused the car to ram into the motorbike of those robbers.
According to a Times of India report, the incident took place at Hebbal Flyover early Monday morning when the man and his wife were travelling to Chikkamangaluru.
The couple saw the robbers thrashing two men and also snatching valuables from them by keeping them at knifepoint. The man said he realized the men had to be helped.
"My wife and I immediately raised an alarm after seeing the robbers. They turn their bikes and moved towards us and parked their bike in front of us. With a knife in their hand, one of them came near the car door and tried to snatch the car keys. As I tried to fend him off, he attacked me on the face with the knife. I latched on to his hand but he continued to hit me on my face, neck and hand," Naresh said while narrating his ordeal.
The two men couldn’t come to his rescue when the robbers attacked the techie.
"My husband was wearing a gold chain and I thought the robbers would try to steal it. I immediately pressed the clutch while shifting gear and hit the accelerator hard. The car then rammed into the motorbike and a robber sitting on it fell down causing both of them to run away leaving their bike. Later, the two victims also ran towards us," the report quoted techie's wife Manisha (name changed) as saying.
The techie was later admitted to a private hospital close to the flyover. The couple then informed Kodigehalli police.
