The incessant rain all across the country have destroyed homes and families. The floods have also been wreaking havoc in Kerala too for the past few weeks, but a ray of hope came to a couple despite all problems.
The most recent one is that of a newly-wed couple from Kerala who held their wedding reception at a relief camp.
The bride identified as Rabiya, and her mother had to escape their flooded home and move to the relief camp. While, ornaments, clothes and all the essentials were washed away.
According to an Indian Express report, the couple scheduled their reception for August 18, in Meppadi in Wayanad district. However, the reception could not happen due to the devastating floods in the state.
But on Sunday Aug 19, a small reception was held at the relief camp with officials in attendance, and gifts for the newly married couple.
The district administration and the parent-teacher association of the school in which the relief camp was set up, came together to host the reception of Rabiya and Shafi (groom) in the school, Express further reported.
Locals and other officials came out to collect funds and gifts for the couple.
Reports say that, the school’s PTA association also planned to collect money to help buy gold for the couple as a gift.
