RAILWAYS HIKE PLATFORM TICKETS AS PREVENTIVE MEASURE AGAINST COVID-19; DETAILS LISTED!
Home > News Shots > IndiaAs the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting parts of the country, the railways have increased prices of platform tickets from Rs. 10 to Rs. 50. This hike in tickets has been applied for 250 stations in the country and the aim is to minimise the crowd at stations.
According to a LiveMint report, a senior Railway Ministry official said that "Platform ticket prices at 250 stations have been increased from ₹10 to ₹50 in several parts of the country."
"The increase in the platform ticket prices is a temporary measure to contain extra load of people in the railway premises", he added.
This hike in price comes after 12 new cases of coronavirus has been reported in India taking the number to 142 confirmed cases, reports The Hindu.
Meanwhile, three railway officials on board the Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express, have been asked to quarantine themselves after coming in contact with a COVID-19 positive passenger.
