In the Gorakhpur tragedy, where 63 children died in just five days, Parents who lost their children have reportedly said that the oxygen problem existed on August 8 too. This contradicts the Uttar Pradesh government’s claim that the problem was a one-time occurrence which started on the evening of August 10 and was sorted out by the next morning. While the state government said there was no death when the hospital was operating without the supply of oxygen on August 10, around half-a-dozen babies died between midnight and 6.30 am. Another five died within three-and-a-half hours from 1.30 pm.
