Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders, was quoted as saying, “In all probability, the Centre may withdraw the cheque book facility in the near future to encourage digital transactions.” Earlier, an RBI discussion paper had recommended that the number of free chequebooks given by banks be reduced substantially in order to promote digital transactions.
